Community foundations

Restoration holds when the community leads it

Trees planted without local hands rarely last. Durable forest restoration begins with people who live alongside the land, who know its seasons, and who will still be tending it long after a project team has left.

Semaian Rimba Forestry works with villagers and local leaders to build the skills and the shared planning that keep village nurseries and community forest plots productive over time.

Four core modules

Training that stays on the land

Each module is delivered hands-on in village nurseries and planting sites, so participants leave with skills they can repeat without outside support.

Seed collection

Participants learn to identify, gather, and record viable seed from local species, including timing, storage, and handling practices.

Sapling care

Hands-on sessions cover potting, watering rhythms, shade management, and how to spot stress before seedlings decline in the nursery.

Field maintenance

Teams practice weeding, mulching, replacing failed plantings, and keeping simple records of survival so that plots remain healthy after handover.

Village nursery management

Local groups learn to run their own nurseries, from scheduling and stock planning to allocating saplings to community forest plots.

Our commitment

Restoration that belongs to the people who keep it

We build collaborative plans that respect community land rights and indigenous knowledge, share technical skills openly, and leave local stewardship in local hands.
